GLENDALE, AZ – Glendale Mayor and founder of the Hometown Christmas Parade, Jerry P. Weiers, officially presented Hope for Hunger with the proceeds from last year’s parade, marking a record-breaking year of community generosity and holiday spirit.
Thanks to the overwhelming support of residents, businesses, and parade participants, more than 12,260 pounds of canned food were donated; the largest food contribution in the event’s history. In addition, the Hometown Christmas Parade Committee raised $40,000 in monetary donations, all benefiting Hope for Hunger and the families they serve throughout the Glendale community.
“Christmas is always the best time of the year, but it’s even more meaningful when we can give back to those who may not have a celebration at all,” said Mayor Weiers. “This parade means so much to me because it brings our community together, not only to celebrate the true reason for the season, but to make a real difference by providing food and hope to our neighbors in need.”
Held annually in the heart of downtown Glendale, the Hometown Christmas Parade is a cherished holiday tradition featuring a lively marching band competition, dazzling floats, and awards recognizing outstanding Christmas spirit. At its core, the parade celebrates the true star of the season, Jesus Christ, while uniting the community through service and generosity.
The Hometown Christmas Parade is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to spreading joy throughout the Christmas season. All proceeds from the event directly support Hope for Hunger, a Glendale-based food bank.
“Mayor Weiers and the City of Glendale continue to show the Valley what it means to step up for neighbors in need,” said Phoenix Rescue Mission CEO Ken Brissa. “Their ongoing support through the Hometown Christmas Parade helps drive Hope for Hunger Food Bank's work, putting meals on tables for families who need them most. Together, we’re not just distributing food, we’re building a stronger, more hopeful community.”
Planning is already underway for this year’s parade. The 2026 Hometown Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 12 at 11 a.m. in downtown Glendale. Community members, businesses, and sponsors are encouraged to get involved. For more information, visit hcparade.org.
